A Minimal Kit with the Canon R5C
I picked up the controversial Canon R5C in June 2022 alongside the RF 24-70 f/2.8 IS L. At the time, I had the Canon EOS R for photography and the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro (BMPCC6K) for filmmaking. The EOS-R was a bit lacking for video with an old 8-bit C-Log codec. On the other hand, the BMPCC6K raw and ProRes codecs were too heavy for some clients that didn't want over a terabyte of footage.
The Canon R5C announced in January 2022 seemed like the perfect hybrid, perfectly balanced between stills and video. It reminded me of my Canon 5D Mark II when it brought 1080p video capability. Back in 2008, that was huge, and this camera opened the world of video and filmmaking to many people.
